Engine

Although the rebuilt engine was semi-complete, it had no freeze plugs and no carbs. The heads were pulled for inspection, and verified, along with the cylanders, to be actually new. The engine had been in storage for a long time, so dirt had accumulated in the heads. They were washed out and cleaned.

A variety of modifications had to be done to fit the various parts into their new home. This included a cut-out bell housing (to fit the starter), a custom pilot bushing, and a modified remote-mounted oil pump and filter. [Check out the Surprises page for more photos of custom-fitted parts.]

If you have done or are considering doing this modification to your Lotus, email Dave and he will buy you a beer while you discuss the intricacies...
